The Big Story: Mega Pokémon in GO Battle League

The headline change this month isn’t tied to a single event — it’s the Twilight Trails season starting September 8, which allows Mega-Evolved Pokémon into ranked PvP for the first time (Mega Edition entries at 1,500 CP or less in Great League, 2,500 CP or less in Ultra League, and no cap in Master League). It’s the kind of rule change that can reshuffle established metas, so it’s worth following even if you only play GBL casually.

New Mechanic: Super Max Mega Evolution

Mega Squads introduces a fourth Mega Level, Super Max, first available for Mega Beedrill and Mega Houndoom, and it returns for Mega Staraptor’s debut on September 19. Expect this mechanic to keep expanding to more Mega-capable Pokémon in future events.

What’s Still Unconfirmed

A few things worth watching for updates as the month goes on: the featured Pokémon for the September 17 Spotlight Hour, the full raid boss rotation that follows Shadow Giratina’s raids ending September 8, and any details for Harvest Festival beyond its confirmed dates.
