Event Recap: What Happened
Zorua Community Day took place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. It was a standard three-hour Community Day with Zorua spawning more often in the wild, disguised as your buddy. Zorua is only revealed once caught, and changing your buddy to Zorua skips the transformation animation.
| Bonus | Window (local time) |
|---|---|
| 3x XP for catching Pokémon | 2:00-5:00 p.m. |
| 2x Candy for catching | 2:00-5:00 p.m. |
| 2x chance of Candy XL from catches (Trainer level 31+) | 2:00-5:00 p.m. |
| 3-hour Incense (not Daily Adventure Incense) | Activated during the event |
| 1-hour Lure Modules; Zorua very likely at PokéStops with regular Lures | 2:00-9:00 p.m. |
| One extra Special Trade (two per day) and 50% less Stardust for trades | 2:00-9:00 p.m. |
The featured attack was Sucker Punch, a Dark-type Fast Attack. A Zorua evolved during the event, or up to four hours after it ended (until 9:00 p.m.), produced a Zoroark with that move. Leek Duck lists Sucker Punch at 8 power in Trainer Battles and 5 power in Gyms and raids. Zorua cost 50 Zorua Candy to evolve, with no other requirement, per Bulbapedia and Pokémon GO Hub.
Shiny Zorua had an increased chance during the event, and Zorua from regular Lures also had a boosted Shiny chance. Pokémon GO Hub estimates the Shiny rate at roughly 1 in 20, but the official page gives no odds, so treat that as an estimate. Wild and Lure Zorua could also carry the yearly Special Background (a Community Day feature since January 2026). Raids were not part of the event.
The optional Special Research, Trickster’s Trail, cost US$1.99, had no story or medal, and included three Special Background Zorua encounters, a Premium Battle Pass and a Rare Candy XL. Tickets could be gifted to friends at Great Friends level or above. Field Research also offered Zorua encounters, including some with Special Backgrounds. Note that Sucker Punch did not require the ticket.
What To Do Now That It Has Ended
- Zorua you did not evolve in time: the 4-hour window has closed. You can still evolve for 50 Zorua Candy, but the resulting Zoroark will not have Sucker Punch. Whether Niantic will offer a way to learn it later has not been announced.
- Candy: Zorua Candy can be earned by catching or transferring Zorua, feeding Pinap Berries, or walking it as a buddy (5 km per candy, per Pokémon GO Hub). Plan your total with the evolution calculator and candy calculator.
- Checking quality: use the IV calculator and IV guide before spending candy and Stardust.
- Zoroark expectations: Pokémon GO Hub says Zoroark has high Attack but poor bulk and struggles in the GO Battle League because it faints quickly, and recommends Snarl with Foul Play. Zoroark is a pure Dark type, so Fighting, Bug and Fairy attackers hit it super effectively; confirm with the type chart. Zorua also gets a Fog weather boost, per Hub.
Zorua still shows up in the wild occasionally; Hub describes it as a rare wild encounter outside events. Weather boosts are explained in the weather boost guide.
Will It Return?
No return of this Community Day has been announced. For context, Zorua first appeared in Pokémon GO on October 25, 2022 as a surprise during a Shuppet Spotlight Hour, and Shiny Zorua became available on October 26, 2023 in Halloween 2023 Part II (per Bulbapedia). Hisuian Zorua debuted on July 8, 2025. Niantic announces returns on its own schedule; keep an eye on the October 2026 calendar.
