The Temporal Pokémon Dialga returns to 5-star raids from Wednesday, October 14 to Tuesday, October 20, 2026, with a Raid Hour on October 14. Dialga is one of the best Steel-type attackers in the game, so this week is worth planning your raid passes around. Here is everything you need: weaknesses, the best counters, group size and Shiny Dialga.

Dialga Weaknesses
Dialga is Steel/Dragon, which leaves it with only two weaknesses: Fighting and Ground. Both are super effective (1.6×). Its Steel typing resists a long list of types, including Dragon, Fairy, Ice and Rock, so don’t bring the Dragon or Fairy teams you might use against other legendaries.
Best Dialga Counters
Ground attackers
- Primal Groudon and Shadow Groudon (Mud Shot / Precipice Blades)
- Groudon
- Mega Garchomp and Shadow Garchomp (Mud Shot / Earth Power)
- Landorus (Therian Forme)
- Shadow Excadrill and Shadow Rhyperior
Fighting attackers
- Mega Lucario (Counter / Aura Sphere)
- Terrakion and Keldeo (Double Kick / Sacred Sword)
- Shadow Machamp (Counter / Dynamic Punch)
- Conkeldurr
Ground attackers usually do slightly more damage, while Fighting types like Lucario are easier for most players to build. A Mega that boosts Ground or Fighting damage (Primal Groudon, Mega Garchomp or Mega Lucario) helps everyone in the lobby.

How Many Trainers Do You Need?
With top-tier counters, Dialga can be duoed by experienced players. For most trainers, a group of 3 to 4 with good Ground or Fighting attackers is comfortable. With mixed or lower-level teams, bring 5 or more.
Is Shiny Dialga Worth Chasing?
Yes, Shiny Dialga is available. Like other legendary raid bosses, the shiny rate is roughly 1 in 20 raids. Dialga is also a strong long-term attacker, so even non-shiny catches are worth keeping for Steel and Dragon teams.
What to Prepare
- Stock up on Max Revives and Hyper Potions before the Raid Hour on October 14.
- Build at least one full team of six Ground or Fighting attackers.
- Use your Golden Razz Berries: Dialga has a low base catch rate.
- Check the weather: Snow or Windy weather boosts the catch CP and the Dialga you catch.
