Mega Evolution Guide

How Mega Evolution works in Pokémon GO, and every species that's received a Mega so far.

How Mega Evolution works

Mega Evolving a Pokémon costs Mega Energy specific to that species. The first Mega Evolution of a species costs significantly more Energy than every Mega Evolution after it, and the Mega temporarily reverts after several hours — re-Mega-Evolving the same species later costs less Energy and takes less time to do again. Exact Energy costs and durations vary by species and have changed with updates, so always check the in-game cost for that specific Pokémon before evolving.

While Mega Evolved, a Pokémon gets a boosted CP and stat bonus, unlocks its Mega-exclusive moves where applicable, and provides bonus Candy from catches of that species while it's active. Mega Evolution also boosts Raid performance for every trainer in the raid lobby who has that species Mega Evolved.

Every Mega released so far

This list only grows — once a species gets a Mega in Pokémon GO, it stays on this list. For which Megas are in the current raid rotation, see Raid Counters.
